“Please read 1 Corinthians 13:11 🙄” – Murkomen to Cherargei.

The recent funeral of Mr. Gilbert Kiprono Lang’at in Cheplelachbei, Lessos, Nandi County, became the stage for a public feud between the Cabinet Secretary in charge of roads, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, and Nandi County Senator Hon. Samson Cherargei.

However, what was supposed to be a solemn occasion took a turn when Senator Cherargei doubled down on allegations against Hon. Murkomen. Cherargei accused Murkomen of consistently neglecting Nandi County in the distribution of road infrastructure. This claim sparked a verbal exchange between the two leaders.

Both Murkomen and Cherargei were in attendance at the funeral of Mr. Lang’at, the CEO of the Shippers Council of East Africa and a board member at the Kenya Bureau of Standards. The event drew other notable figures, including the Head of Public Service Hon. Felix Kosgei, Permanent Secretary for Treasury Hon. Chris Kiptoo, Education PS Hon. Belio Kipsang, Nandi County Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Mitei, and business mogul David Lagat, among other leaders.

In response, Murkomen urged Cherargei to exhibit maturity, advising him to reflect on 1 Corinthians 13:11. The verse emphasizes putting away childish things when one matures. Murkomen’s rejoinder hinted at a perceived lack of maturity on Cherargei’s part.

Amidst the growing tension, the Head of Public Service, Hon. Felix Kosgei, stepped in and called for restraint from all elected and appointed leaders. Kosgei urged them to set aside their differences and work together for the betterment of Kenyans.

The ongoing public feud between Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen and Hon. Samson Cherargei has highlighted the challenges and differences within the leadership, specifically concerning the distribution of vital infrastructure like roads. As the rift plays out in the public eye, the call for unity and collaboration from the Head of Public Service underscores the importance of working together for the benefit of the community. The aftermath of this feud remains uncertain, leaving Nandi County residents to hope for a resolution that prioritizes their interests over political discord.

Our condolences to Mr. Lang’at’s family. 💖
