KEMSA Named Africa’s Most Outstanding Medical Supplier
KEMSA won the recognition at an award ceremony in Mauritius capital on Thursday during which its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andrew Mulwa was crowned the winner of the prestigious African Governance Award (AGA) 2024.
In his speech, Dr. Mulwa expressed his sincere gratitude to the organizers and highlighted the collective effort of the KEMSA team.
Mulwa hailed KEMSA staff commending their sturdiness amid what he termed as formidable challenges.
“Through perseverance, we ensured the supply of essential Medical Products and Technologies to the people of the Republic of Kenya,” the CEO stated.
“Africa’s main resource and competitive advantage lie in its youthful and healthy population,” Dr. Mulwa added.
“This achievement would not have been possible without a hard-working health system capable of delivering quality healthcare when and where needed,” he further remarked.
Govt support
Mulwa acknowledged President William Ruto’s support, that of Health CS Hon. Susan Nakhumicha and the entire KEMSA Board of Directors.
“Their steadfast support has been instrumental in our transformation journey towards this award,” he said.
The KEMSA CEO dedicated his award to the pupils and students of Watuka Primary School in Makueni County, where he received his early education.
“I hope to inspire them (pupils) and demonstrate that success is attainable regardless of one’s background.”
KEMSA Board Chairperson Irungu Nyakera welcomed the award as a demonstration of the authority’s commitment to enhance service delivery.
“We extend our hearty congratulations to Dr. Andrew Mulwa and the entire KEMSA family for this remarkable achievement. KEMSA remains committed to setting standards of excellence in healthcare provision, both locally and internationally,” Nyakera said.
Thursday’s gala attended by media, public sector analysts, and commentators from around the world marked the largest gathering of top-tier public officials in Africa, exemplary private-sector enterprises, institutions, and individuals.
